Jack-in-the-Green Children’s Workshops
I heard about these two workshops (completely unconnected) the other day, it’s great to hear the Jack-in-the-Green traditions being kept alive and passed on to the next generation in this way. Many of the Jacks that would have been seen on May Day across London in the later days of the 1800’s would have been made by groups of children from paper and paraded for a few coppers. It was probably children who kept the tradition alive during the period that the Jacks all but died out and their revival in the 1970’s
